It's really worth 2 seconds at Hallett ? Well with those then I could easily attain my "goal" time.
No improved driving BS, it was $3000 per second worth of car improvement. You know those old banana arms are no match for a 996 My last gearset had a 140 mph top speed in sixth gear.

ZOOM...if $3K could get me 2sec at Hallett, I'd write the check right now.

As long as it didn't involve work on my part, like learning how to drive 'n **** like that, or those boring coaches.

Who's got data for HPR velocity just prior to braking at T4?
I own the NASA GTS-4 track record for HPR and should have a TraqMate data file for it somewhere. PM me with an email address if you want the file.

Damn, those are some expensive seconds !
You definitely improved your driving also tho, the thing I was most impressed with in the last few races I saw you in were your passing abilities. Obviously the simulator in the garage helped out.

The newer 996 chassis is good, but the 964 chassis cars still have some strengths as well.

See you at Nationals Bassam ? ? ?

+1

The pass Bassam put on me and Ron Farmer at Hallett last year had nothing to do with a short gearbox!

I shipped a 996 GT3 transmission in an igloo 100qt cooler I bought at Wal-Mart for under $60 (ages ago). We removed the tranny cooler, the transmission is a snug fit in the cooler, same cooler was used to ship back and forth. Oil removed from tranny. Convenient, and cheap.

I bought a 915 shipped freight in a large white cooler. worked great, kept the cooler for the next shipment (inside damaged enough to be non functional as a cooler)

You could also remove the differential/ring gear and ship it separately to help get under the 150 lbs. limit.

I built a really nice crate for my 915 that the tranny was bolted to inside but it ended up being more than 150 lbs. Isensed up using a big cardboard box with really thick walls. This is standard practice for Gary Fairbanks. Put some foam on the bottom, put the tranny in, fill the voids with folded pieces of cardboard so it can't move, and seal it up.
