FS: LeMons car in Boston area -- '86 MR2 ($250)
Hey guys,
First, a question: is the Racing Classifieds section working? I couldn't get it to load, so apologies for posting this thread here.
Just wanted to see if there was any interest for an '86 MR2 that was prepped + raced for the 24 Hrs of LeMons race in CT, back in the summer of 2010.
It's more than a bit rough around the edges, but what LeMons cars aren't?!
The car is in Cambridge, MA, currently living at MIT.
The good:
- Price: $250
- It's sorted and most of the safety stuff is good to go (the exceptions being listed below) -- this is a big deal, for those of us who have had to build one of these from scratch!
- We actually finished the race! This car can finish races! It's a real hoot to drive.
- If I can find them, it may also come with an extra set of 3rd-gen, 15" MR2 wheels.
- Car was brought to MA from AZ, where it had lived its entire life. It's been living inside an enclosed trailer for most of the past two years, meaning rust isn't really an issue.
The bad:
- Needs a new racing seat and racing belts
- I'd recommend a new motor + starter as well.
- Needs a new driver's door...er, sheet metal.
The ugly:
- Um, look at it.

Three Wheelin'
Give me a little bit. I am shaking all the idiots I know that could use it. If it wasn't 15 hours from me, I would take it, no problem. Of course, I need another race car like a hole in the head......

Ha -- no problem. She was a great little car, had a blast with her. I'm more interested in getting it to someone who will race it again than I am about getting any significant money for it (hence the price).

You'll note the car's number -- we definitely played up the "Super Geek" idea. We were mostly a bunch of MIT grad students.
Just sent you an email.
