Default Good tire pressure gauge?

Looking for a reliable & accurate tire pressure gauge in the 60-psi range. Longacre and Intercomp seem to be the majors, has one proven to be better than the other? Also, any reason to go with liquid filled?

I had two gauges used for the track - Porsche dial gauge, Longacre gauge. Forgot them at home, bought Longacre from Ron at the track. Set normal pressures on the Hoosiers w/ new gauge, car handled great. Got home Saturday evening & for grins compared all three gauges. The new one was lite by 3 pounds, the old ones were in agreement 3 lbs over the new gauge. Assumed the new one was off, took it back to Ron who checked it against a new high end model and it was spot on. I was running at 3 pounds high for at least a year with the old gauges. They weren't dropped or abused. I am going to calibrate several times a year.

Which one was the new one. The accurate one?
What is the cost.
Is it digital?

Nothing fancy, Longacre angled chuck with the "hold" feature, think Ron had it around $49. Took it to GTE when I had tires mounted, checked it against Kieran's expensive digital and it was right on. Ron said the old Longacre (3 seasons) was probably dropped when lent to others cuz didn't drop it. Going to calibrate every time I go to GTE for mounting. 3 pounds off ain't good even as slow as I am.

the one in the summit link only goes up to 15psi, you might have to look around their site more for the 40 and 60 psi versions of it

I see a Longacre Magnum 3.5" glow-in-dark for around $75 and then the Longacre 4" Precision for $170. Is there really enough of a difference the $100 difference?

I have a Longacre and one called Joe's Racing. Bought the Joe's on amazon for something like $25. It's dead nuts accurate with the Longacre, which cost two or three times more. Also is very durable and has a rugged rubber cover.

My only nit pick is that the Joe's gauge doesn't hold the pressure reading when I use it, whereas my Longacre does. Other than that they're basically identical. Oh and the Joe's has a glow in the dark face!!!

But for the price, you can't beat it.

I believe it was last year, that Grassroots Motorsports magazine had an article on this. They tested many gauges; expensive all the way down to the old fashion stick ones... The conclusion was the digital ones performed the best (and if I recall correctly, it didn't need to be an expensive one either).

...a funny one on this subject. several years ago at a race i remember a few folks running around checking each other's pressure gauges on a tire. it was amazing, how different they read (some spanned around 3-5 psi different)

I have had a Long Acre fir many years. It is the one with the bleeder but not glow in the dark. I think I got it from Summit for about $65, about ten years ago. Just my two nickels.
