We plan on contacting Sunoco tomorrow and starting a dialog on this. There are now 3 engines that were substaintally damaged running this fuel. I'll update the thread as this progresses.

Just a question - what's the margin error in the tests? I do a lot of testing to ASTM specs and every machine gets slightly different results, even on the same materials to the same standard.

Analysis: Octane (R+M/2)

Method: ASTM D2268

Results: 97.0

Detection Limits: 1.0

It still doesn't answer the question. Two different testing machines/fixtures will almost always come up with different results. How much so is this with octane testing?

Think engine dynos - they can be calibrated the same and made by the same manufacturer, but be 10% different.
