Default 951V finally on track for testing/shake down

After too long we finally made it back with the 951 for testing & shake down. I blew my motor last year racing at mid O, caught fire (put out with my safecraft) only to be collected 20' off track by a 911. Anyway....

Car was completed at 11:00 on Friday and we trailered out to Gingerman for testing and shake down on Saturday (nice safe place to test). Ace fabricator, Mitch Marchi and mechanic electrical man Stephen Cramer stepped up to the plate all week to help in my time of need. All in my home shop. Stephen also crewed for me with no sleep. Thanks dude.

New Aim Pista was great but we need minor detailing, thanks to Jerry Austin.

Great initial testing, never exceeded 6,000 rpm with Joe Gibbs in the engine. Ran some rain time as well, the old, well developed platform was improved by raising ride heights. Running the non-boosted brakes were not that hard to get used to, the modulation and feel were excellent.

Lots of torque everywhere. It's just a lot easier to drive fast.

nice to see it back on the track! what front brakes are you using, Alan VT951's v8 swap is on hydroboost and we were thinking of putting the dual master setup in to simplify, but he has big reds up front, not sure how good the brakes would be for street/track.

I am currently running big blacks. The brake setup is a dual, non-boosted system with a modified fulcrum point.

I raised my ride height over last year about 20mm.

Suspension

Moton shocks 185#
spring rates 900/1000
3.2 degrees of negative camber front
2.3 degrees of negative camber front
1 mm (total) toe front and rear
Racers edge - everywhere
(A arms, camber plates, castor blocks)
Kokeln rear swingarm attachment
(micro adjustable toe + raises the attachment point 1")
Kokeln front and rear adjustable sway bars
(full soft rear & 3/4 stiff front - dry set up)
(disconnect rear & full soft front - wet set up)
Engine/trans are hard mounted as well

The corner weighting needs some work yet and we have plenty of weight to play with. We just ran out of time before going to the track.

Must be a blast to drive with all that torque and hp. Curious on the hp and torque specs.

We dyno this afternoon.

Brake ducts are a GT part.

At the crank it is rated at 405 hp 400 tq.

I will have some video after my final test before racing on 6/16

Went through the entire GT Racing website but found nothing like this. Did you buy recently?

LS6? Those dyno VERY high with race exhausts......a local ST2 vette dyno's 385whp on an OLD LS6.....

Still 380+ whp in a race 951 is gonna MOVE....all that torque will get off the corners nicely.....

I have a full built LS2 sitting in the garage....its quoted at 520hp-475ftlbs, pulls to 6800rpm.... It would be a simple drop in for my 928 racer..... I figure 450whp with an off track weight of maybe 2700lbs....

Dyno numbers are in.

We need a restrictor!

385 to 388HP w/376 torque

It's a monster!
