I did WG in the rain last year for the first time ever. It was actually my first ever rain race. In DE, I only did one weekend in rain driving a rental Hyunday Sonata at VIR (long story ).

Tried to really listen to all the advice from the veterans, put the 4 year old 17" Hoosier Wets, cranked the wing to like 14 degrees, backed out all the comp damping, and this is how I looked. Absolutely much much to improve, especially up the esses and T1, but rim rides are the ticket... Hope it helps with the visual... (easy on the roasting please!!! )

PS: Yes, I am the red car being chased by the Subi... Finally it got too foggy and crazy. And since we were out of class and he was way faster up the esses, I don't fight him in what ended up being the last lap before the double yellow flew to end the race due to visibility....

See you there.

Watkins Glen only has about 18 inches of runoff in any given corner. No thanks... I'm scared enough when it's dry.

Jack, three or four years ago, on my first or second trip to WGI, I had wunderground.com up on my laptop, and watched the radar as a t-storm moved in. Cleverly, I had the Eurosport boys quickly change to rains, and damned if it didn't **** down rain on the front straight just at the start. I passed more cars in the first four corners than I had in my entire Club Race career. By the time we reached the toe of the boot, it was dry and the sun was shining. As I drove through puddles on the front straight to cool my rains, all the cars that passed me and then some went by. After three laps, I was laughing too hard to continue, and parked it. Let's hope for nice weather!

Hi bobt993 that was me that passed you going into T1 at the WG 4 years ago. To set the record straight, I did come from dead last but I wasn't on wets, I was on an old set of worn out MPSC. I looked for you after the race but by the time I finished talking with Brian Henderson you were gone. FYI Henderson gave me a 13 which was later over turned. Good advice on taking it easy for a few turns after going off.

Bad news for the rain averse...

Long-range forecast is calling for the Great Equalizer on Sat. But you still have hope - it's only a 40% chance.

Yep. Most of Rennlist was convinced it would rain at Atlanta. Turned out gorgeous.

Actually I'm just trying to make Gregg (Chaos) reach for the Tums
