Ditto. My fronts are right up against the springs and perches and my stock wheel wells are rolled and pulled out a touch with a towel wrapped around a jack handle. I've run 275's on 9.5" rims without issues....

ok, I now have 2 engines for winter projects.... an M96 3.4L and a 3.6L
Thinking about rebuilding one as a learning project and the other as a short stroke, big bore, HP project.

I've seen that one of the "features" of the X51 heads was the reduced head thickness... does anyone have a dimension for these heads? Or a CR ? I understand the OE CR is 11.3:1 and I've seen something suggesting X51 was 11.7 or greater. Has anyone CC'ed an X51 chamber & piston to verify?

How much static compression can the M96 engines deal with before they need something more than 93 Octane pump gas?

PS - I'm looking for some X51 parts also:

Yes, the 911 needs to be trail-braked hard... often all the way to the apex.
For that you need lots-o-tire and camber up front.

I have 275's on the 996 AND the Boxster S.
Out back it's 315 for the 996, and 295 for the Boxster S. It's not easy but they do fit. I love it when people tell me there is no way for any of those to fit, my response is always the same, I say ok, and then point to the car.

The X51 heads had some other differences also, port angles and valve angles. According to Porsche you could not shave the heads any additional on a X51 but you could on a non-x51. I do have the numbers somewhere if no one else can come up with them PM me.
