Since they are both "Spec" cars, I swapped motors between the 2 today, the 996 is now a slug, and as good as the Miata handles I still think you will be in trouble in the first corner with the 996 motor in it.

With the 996 engine in the Miata, I might be able to get all the way up to mid-pack!

It will be interesting to hear your comparison between this Miata, your new one, and the old rental that you were driving. Spec cars are funny beasts, while they are suppose to be identical "Specs" they take on such different feelings and personalities.
