[QUOTE=MarkM;9444640]Chris, I know the GC guys well from the good old Performance days. I went to Matt when Bob and Steve left PI. They will do a good job, but they aren't as **** as Matt is, and I have gotten used to that level of perfection.

When PI went through the changes is when I got back in after many years. I looking for a new shop but apparently flunked my acceptance interview with Matt so had to keep searching & found my way to Buford.

What i should have said is If you build your h using the spec suspension package you can run both (I have pss9) which last time I looked we're usable in spec. The straw that breaks the camels back was getting the car to spec weight would require changing out the rear glass. 99s for some reason are lighter and may not have that issue but my 01 is a struggle to even get to h weight. It is ashame more thought was not given to the rules so that cars were legal for both.

Yep, close but no cigar. There are plenty of other threads about the politics of classing. It is just irritating these are so close.

By the way I'm about 25 lbs under H class weight, but have no idea how to get down to 2600 like some of these spec cars.

hey Spec996 folk, quick question: is ABS required per the rules? I took a look at the PCA rulebook and saw no mention one way or another in the braking section.

In all PCA classes, modifications have to be specifically allowed for you to be able to do it. So if the rules do not say ABS delete allowed, you can not delete it.

I've run OEM calipers and rotors for 3 years now without any issues. I've use Pagid Orange, blacks, and currently Yellows (RS29). I run slicks only, largest have been Hoosier 265 fronts with 305 rears again without any ABS issues....

I have a set of StopTech 355 mm calipers & rotors I'm going to try up front sometime soon but the OEM setup is really, really good....

thanks. I ask for two reasons:

one, I had some ABS issues with my car on track last weekend (stock rotors, Pagid yellows, and SuperSport tires). I thought I'd see if the pads were perhaps an issue prior to further investigation; sounds like they're not. off to the shop we go...

also, wanted to see what setup people are using, as my goal for this car is Spec996, and don't want to modify something that must later be retrofitted to stock.

awesome!

what wheels are those? 987/997 18" classics (I think that's the name)?

I have a set of OZ Allegeritas on the car right now but by my calculations, they'll be under minimum weight for Spec996 (fronts by half a pound, rears by 3+ pounds)

looks good, are you going to be at MSR-C this weekend? I need to test my new alignment set up, I may join you depending on the weather.

That's the tentative plan. We still have a few small things to put together. My hope is Friday afternoon or Saturday morning for a couple of hours if I can sneak out of the house.

That's really interesting to hear because there are a few current Spec 996 guys that are running that wheel I believe. When I had originally saw the wheels on the car I thought they would be light for the class but it wasn't my place to protest so I just left it alone.
Hope some PCA Scruts are paying attention on here, Spec classes are best when kept in spec.
