Default Hybrid Pro - who is using one?

About to drop $700 on a basic hybrid pro set up with the neck cushion and i was wondering how many of you have used this and how you like it. USRacegear raves about it and the owner uses one in his race car. Ive never used a Hans or any other unit but supposedly this is better.

Joe Cooley, Circuit Motorsports, is the guru on this one.

I've used one for the past year in my DE car equipped with 3 pt belts and for some ChumpCar and 24 Hours of LeMons races. It's unobtrusive enough once you master the drill to put it on by yourself. As is to be expected, the range of motion for your head is more limited so you need to rely on your peripheral vision, particularly in the paddock area, although it's very easy to disconnect the tethers while exiting the track as long as they were properly hooked up. It's not a big deal while on the track. I'm surprised more instructors don't utilize this type of device while riding with students. I'll let you know if I "like" it should I ever crash.........but it seems well designed and tested for its intended purpose. Best,

I don't know what it is... but it sounds like a HANS replacement - will it be legal in racing?

It's SFI 38.1 certified which, I think, approves it for all types of racing. Here's some general info from Simpson.

Been approved since it was made. Interestingly, John Force (Funny Car driver) set up the Eric Medlen Foundation to make drag racing safer. He's spend millions of his own money and lots of Fords money to make racing safer. Everyone on his team is wearing a Hybrid Pro.

yeah supposedly it is better than the Hans because it works in a side impact as well as a front.

The tests are in 0 and 30 degree (offset). The numbers released for the hybrid are better than the Hans.

I've played with all the devices out there and after Hans defender and the various hybrid devices I stuck with the hybrid pro with the sas system.

Depending on timing I have one that I send out for people to test out.
