Helmet question
I'm attending Trackmasters in May at Sears Point.
My helmet is dated 2000 and I can't use it for the event.
I have a new motorcycle helmet and was wondering if I can use it. Its a AGV T2
and is marked DOT E2205.
I sent an email to Trackmasters asking if I could use the helmet but have yet to get a reply.
Any help is appreciated.

Motorcycle helmets can also be Snell rated so you can't say that it "Must be a Snell 2005 or better [newer]."
Snell "M" is for motorcycles and are probably fine for most autocross events depending on who is running them.
For a big track event you need a Snell "SA" or SAH" helmets and I suspect you need at least a Snell SA2005 rated helmet.

Snell "M" and "SA" are completely different specifications. You will need a Snell SA for your event if it's on track.
As Scott states above *some* autocross events allow the use of Motorcycle helmets.

Helmets are cheaper than heads...

You can get SA 2010 helmets now for under $300 - and they are every bit as safe as the $1000 SA 2010 Helmets.
These days the major difference between the expensive SA helmets and the cheaper ones are the materials and weights, and to a small degree the fit and finish.
Just be sure to try on any helmet you are considering before you actually buy it. I find they all fit a little different.
