Default 944 Cup Title Sponsor

Goodyear Racing will be the title sponsor for the 944 Cup series for the 2012 season. Goodyear has a long and storied history with sports car racing. The 944 Cup is very proud to become a part of the Goodyear tradition.

Goodyear will offer 944 Cup racers a tire contingency program for both the Cup and Super Cup classes for two races each weekend for all Cup chapters, including the North, South, Canada and NorthWest.

I just sewed a Hoosier patch on my new suit!
Gonna be interesting to try a new set of shoes.
Bring it on.

And it's come up on the 944 Forum that a set of race tires costs $944!

A tiny bit less than the Hoosier. But anyone has run them with good results?

Nice that they came on board, but the sizing looks very limited.

Isn't that kinda the point of a spec tire?

Congrats! Will be watching to see how this new tire holds up. It is going to be interesting to see how all the new Hoosier alternatives make out in the market.

It would be except that 944Cup is not a spec series like Spec44, it's more of a limited mod/hp to weight series. You can run any tire you want. I used to run Hankooks and had success with them. Now I'm running Hoosiers. If Goodyear provides sizes and a competitive tire I would switch. Congrats to Dave for bringing them aboard.

Dave's goal is to be inclusive of all front engine Porsches, that anybody with a 44 variant can find a spot to race. Our rules get tweaked to in theory, to allow for close competition in diverse cars.

Goodyear offers the most common tires used in the series. And, its not a spec tire, so drivers are not required to run them. Drivers choice.

Not a spec tire requirement in the 944 Cup. But the Goodyear DOT track tire is the Eagle® RS.

Curious to hear from those who have run the Goodyear Eagle RS.
