Will be in London at end of August, looking for advice on a trip to Spa for the GP.

Ideally, would like to hook up with London Rennlisters heading to the continent - may we join your road trip?

Hey I have been to Spa and also driven from London to Belgium. Take the hover craft...it's the cheapest, coolest and fastest way to cross the channel...it is not hard to drive in england and then drive in europe...just don't cross back and forth in a few days, my brain couldn't handle it!!! Spa is a dirty nasty race with drunk German NASCAR types pissing everywhere...pay the extra $$$ and sit in the stands and most importantly bring a raincoat, it always rains for part of the race!

All European F1 weekends attract drunk Brits and Germans, they are best avoided along with Kimi's drinking mates, hysteric Spanish racists, and any number of pick pockets and pan handlers. Get the best package you can possibly afford, get decent car parking, sleep as far away from the circuit as you can comfortably manage. Bars and restaurants close to the circuit will be unbearable. Get used to the smell of urine.
I have found that if you stay a few kms away you are quite likely to find yourself sharing a roof with folk who are professionally involved with the race weekend, which can make it interesting.

Not only should you have wet weather gear, but also be prepared for cold spells.
