John, thanks for returning the fuel rail after the Sunday race. We were celebrating Tyler's three year quest to win the 944 Cup Championship. I can't express how happy I am to see him win with a smart, measured drive. He turned in the fastest lap of the weekend in Cup at 133.657 in the Sunday morning warm-up. This was in addition to setting a Super Cup record of 131.813 in qualifying. His only session in the rented and never seem before, or ever driven in a Turbo Super Cup car on Saturday or Sunday.
I also want to mention that the top six Cup cars in the Championship race were within best lap times of one second! It was a very competitive weekend and very much fun with some of this too![cherrsagai](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/drink.gif)

Bill, I too was happy to see Tyler win it, he really is a great competitor and a great kid. Both of you guys make the series what it is, and it was a very sportsmanlike decision for him to stay in Cup, putting you in SC. You guys really put a lot into it, his car is so well prepared, but after all these years he really deserved to win the Cup.
I'm surprised to see you back online so swiftly, are you posting from your transporter enroute home?

A fascinating development at Nationals was that a driver new to the series, but with years of instructor level driving, who never sat in a 944 before Nationals, rented an underpowered car the day before the race, and took the pole for the most competitive 944 Cup race of the year.
Once again proving that driver skills is the most important ingredient for going fast. This driver is a SCCA Spec Miata regular with instructor level race experience. And he raced with us the entire weekend without coming in contact with another car, disproving the notion that Spec Miata drivers and crazy are synonymous.
.
Another enlightening fact: really good drivers can go fast without hitting other cars because of their ability to control their car. He asked in the driver meeting what were the rules of the road for contact, thinking they may be different then SM, and adjusted accordingly.

That Spec Miata competitor to whom you referred pressured me from behind for the whole regional race on Saturday, and I'm in SuperCup! I was fighting an ill-handling car, and he turned out to be a great sportsman.
