During the event SCCA will broadcast the RMonitor feed for competitors and they also support the Race Monitor app - so results can be reviewed in real time. There will be a separate page in the Race Supps which explains the access methods.

The tenative schedule currently includes a 15 minute practice and a 15 minute qual session Saturday morning, followed by a 16 lap Regional race for all Chapters, which will also set the grid for Sunday's National Championship race. We are creating a highlight video for the Annual Awards Banquet being held on Saturday.
In addition to giving drivers the opportunity to share thier best (or worse) moments of the 2012 season, or that of their fellow drivers, I am offering a $150 prize for the best video clip that makes it nto the highlight film.
Just send your video clips of 15 seconds or less, or longer if that action packed, to me at cup944@aol.com in a file format. If your video is linked to a web site, please download and send to me in file format.
Thanks.

Both Cup and Super Cup classes will be available for Nationals per 944 Cup rules: http://www.44cup.com/rules . This classification includes by rule all PCA SP1, SP2, SP3, E and F class front engine Porsches. All NASA 944 Specs cars also eligible, along with many GTS1 and most GTS2 cars.
The 944 Cup has no membership requirements to race at Nationals. You are in with a current comp license and race car with a current race log book from PCA, SCCA, NASA or CASC.
With a 944 Cup only run group, Cup Nationals will be the largest Porsche 944 only race event for 2012. Whether racing or spectating, it doesn't get any better than this for fans of front engine Porsches.
Hope to see you there.

The 944 Cup Championship Race Series came to agreement today with
Pirelli World Challenge to offer drivers competing in the 944 Cup Nationals
in 2012 and 2013, the opportunity to race in the Pirelli World Challenge
the next two seasons with a package of free race entry fees.
For the upcoming 944 Cup Nationals on October 20 and 21 and NJMP, Pirelli
World Challenge offers a full race season of free entries to the winner of
the Nationals for each of the two 944 Cup classes. This is 9 rounds of free
race entries with a value of $50,000 in total. Pirelli World Challenge also
offers a half season of free entries for second place, and one free entry
for third place.
All totaled the package is valued up to $90,000 in prizes for the National
Championship. More importantly, this offer provides drivers the chance to
progress to the next level of competition with a head start on the financial
resources needed in the pro ranks. Details for the 2013 package will be
announced at the start of next season.
Now in its 23rd consecutive season, the Pirelli World Challenge is one of
North America's top production car-based racing championships. Divided into
four separate categories (Pirelli World Challenge GT, Pirelli World
Challenge GTS, Pirelli World Challenge Touring Car and Pirelli World Challenge
Touring Car B-Spec), each race features thrilling standing starts, adrenaline
filled door-to-door action and world-class drivers. The Pirelli World
Challenge features cars from the world's most popular manufacturers –
race-prepped versions of the cars driven on the streets. Sanctioned by SCCA
Pro Racing, the series races at North America's premier road and temporary
street courses.

Obviously a very cool prize, but, I wonder, for the expense to procure an eligible car, prepare it, employ support and budget for travel and repairs, the entry fees aren't that much. How many 944 cup drivers would be ready to step up to that level if they won the prize?

12K$ per race? So entry fees would represent nearly half of the budget?
Mmmhh...

Rhetorical question obviously as I or anyone else would have insufficient details on the finances or the time commitments of all the Cup drivers, or their ability to find sponsors to be able to answer.
Safe to say it would cost a alot more money to race in WC then club race most cars. Though I have seen some cars, rigs and crew at PCA races that would come close.
However, more then one 944 Cup driver has already competed in WC in the past.
