Hawk DTC60 or DTC70 for endurance racing
I have a 944 NA ChumpCar that we are going to run 944T brakes on
was going to order up our pads.
Wondering what the difference is on DTC60 or DTC70 brake pads.
We run endurance races at (7-24hr stints)
Eagles Canyon
Harris Hill
TWS
The car is low power and relatively light.
Pad performance is important --- longevity, due to cost is important too
We had been running Hawk Blues on stock brakes for more than 60 hours of racing and half dozen DEs and they still had 1/3-1/2 the pad left.
thanks,
Mike

Burning Brakes
I ran Hawk Blues on 2 LeMons cars, an E30 BMW and a Miata. We then switched to DTC-60's. The Blues are grabby by comparison and more difficult to modulate, and they also wore through the rotors a lot faster. I think the DTC's last longer, although the Blues last plenty long enough.
If you subscribe to the 'newer is better' philosophy, the Blues are an older compound compared to the DTC. I'd be fine running either but prefer the DTC.

We chewed through 2 sets of rotors -- but they are cheap compared to the pads -- so we didn't car :-)

Not trying to hijack the Hawk pad info. We have some PFC 83 compound that fit 44T/930 T calipers. Reg price is 125.00. any quantity 75.00 per axle. 83 compound is what was used by NASCAR at the short tracks where they needed max stopping. And yes they can be noisy, so you're team mates will know when you're coming around. Forty axles available.

I'm up for suggestions -- but note
Most of our drivers are Novices -- less than 1-2 years of track time.
I've been reading some of these brakes can be a little tricky to use.

Are you running 86 44T brakes front and rear? If so the pads are the same ones.

I've run both DTC-60 and -70's on my BMW racecar... Both are easy to modulate with the -70 having a bit more bite... The kicker is that the -70's lasted about 2-3 weekends of racing and the -60's lasted 5-6 weekends... I have chosen to stay with the -60's. YMMV...
