Probably felt like you had the brakes on when you let off the gas on the highway.

Pretty much, especially with a strong headwind. Still...75 MPH average and got 21 MPG average!

When did you switch to 911s? By the way really like what you did with the wheels on the car.

Should have put the smaller front tires out front on the roof instead of one each up top in front, they would have cut the aero drag for the larger rear tires thus resulting in less overall drag.

Yeah, I think he found this is the way they actually fit, and could be cable-locked, however.

If I tried to load wheels on top of my car like that, I would drop a wheel on the hood, it would bounce off, land on my foot, and I'd be in a walking cast for two months.

Wow! What's the load limit for the roof rack? I always thought it was less than the weight of four wheels & tires.

I looked at carrying tires like that on my GT3. But the weight is actually over the rated load limit and in case of an accident someone pointed out that the rack could become a very heavy missile. So I got a utility trailer that could carry two sets of wheels plus by tools.
