Let's make it happen!
Spec911 is what you want, isn't it?

Spec 911 is all of these things except for the shocks. Even then, you don't have to have that great of shocks in Spec because with torsionbars you can't get that high of spring rates. Sure they help but aren't required.

There is no such thing as a $100K 944 build anywhere in the country.

ken, you are too polite. you are hell of 911 driver, forward, backward, sideways, all faster than i ever can.

Just because there isn't one (and for good reason) doesn't mean that someone couldn't build one. Motec ADL3 dash, brand new drive train with as many new factory parts as are available, art work worthy cage, show winning paint on an acid dipped tub etc. I bet it would be easier than you think.

I know of at least 3 $60k+ Spec Boxster builds here on the west coast that didn't include any internal engine or trans refreshing. Nice cars are expensive, you don't need a nice car to be competitive but they are oh so much more enjoyable to work on, look at, dream about etc.

Mooty, JWE is building 3 new spec 911's in addition to Rich's GTL car. They should be having a test day early 2012 and you can drive my spec 911 and Rich's GTL. You will appreciate a light car!

I just read through the PRC rules. Are you not in GTL because you prefer to run Toyos instead of the Goodyears?

We run Toyo RA-1 in spec 911 and they have been the right tire choice. The GTL series uses the Goodyear slicks.

How many race weekends do most Spec911 racers get out of a set of shaved RA-1s? How many racers (if any) use a new set every weekend?

This past year, I did 5 PCA race weekends and used 3 new sets of Hoosiers. I'm curious how much I would save in Spec911.

The car pictured in my avatar to the right [no, to the left] is a GTL car. It runs large (11.5 x 16 F, 13 x 16 R) bias-ply Goodyear racing slicks.

A set of RA-1's easily lasted 4 weekends of racing and I plan to use them next year. That's 24 sessions. My best time at Thunderhill was on 2 year old RA-1's.

That's 2-3 times as long as R6s last. Most in PCA toss them or use them for practice sessions only after less than 10 HC.
