Tow car (suv)

If you stay open or 20ft or less enclosed (with proper hitch setup) any of the SUVs you looked at will be fine. I'm partial to diesel but the Pepper turbo is awesome.
IMHO, if you want a 24+ enclosed the 3/4-1 ton trucks are the best with the longer wheelbase and weight.

Lots of options and depends on your preferences. My Q7 TDI with air suspension is hard to beat. Can hardly tell the trailer/car is behind you and the comfort is typcial Audi quality. >20 mpg towing and 28 mpg without the trailer.

This one is a little heavier, but still pulls easily with the TDI. Back to the topic, it is important to get the factory towing package with whatever vehicle you buy. With the Q7, it comes prewired for the EBC which makes installation a breeze. Also, when you plug in the trailer, the electronics are modified, including shutting off the side assist and rear obstacle detection. Pretty useful things. Other vehicles probably have the same. I did consider the BMW but could not get a factory towing package at the time I was looking.

I have a T-reg TDI. It towes just fine even without the air suspension. I have a heavy open trailer. The weight of it, my car and extra wheels is around 6000 lbs. Oh and as for reliability, I bought this SUV new a year and a half ago. I have 30k miles without a single warranty issue.
