I have been towing with a T-reg from 2004 to 2010 with a 20' enclosed trailer steel and now V-nosed 20' enclosed ATC with a Cayenne s. The T/C will tow well but you need to watch top speed and cross winds. That said the Cayenne seems to tow better with the air ride set to regular height and sport on the dampeners. Air susp is a must with an enclosed trailer imho. if you want to tow faster and still have an enclosed then buy the trailex enclosed...no real issue with cross winds or reasonable top speeds.

+1 on the Cayenne S (or Turbo). Mine tows my open trailer like a champ... it's capable of much more (7700 lb towing capacity). The Cayennes are so solid and powerful. Huge brakes too.

Plus, it's an awesome daily driver.

I do love to tow with a Cayenne and X5 5.0i but they require premium gas and you'll be lucky to get anywhere near 20mpg without even towing. The X5d seems to be the best option out there today. Also the ML350 Blutec looks to be quite a good option as well.

I test drove a 2012 Cayenne Turbo this weekend...what a riot. Took my parents who were in town for the weekend. Mom had a huge grin the entire ride.

Next went to Range Rover dealer. They had a Sport Supercharged with 8 miles on it. Wouldn't start. 10 minutes later, battery confirmed dead. 20 minutes later after charging, gas tank is on empty. No test ride.

No argument on the diesel MB or BMW's...however, I needed more space but didn't want a full size since I commute in/out of the city as well. Went domestic and have a new Durango R/T with the 5.7L Hemi. Very impressed with the truck...12-14 towing is the only downside. Loaded up with amenities (kids like the heated rear seats, i like satellite, blutooth, engine gauges for oil temp/pressure/tranny temp, rear camera, nav, etc) and it does have air suspension in the rear so no drooping. It makes for easy trailering with 7500lb capacity - I am towing an open trailex with a cayman on it. Handles pretty darn well for a 5000+ truck. R/T has different suspension pieces and tuning....not better than my old X5 but definitely better than my old GL450. If you dont need the space, the Grand Cherokee has same powertrain and amenities. Can't beat the bang for your buck but do admit that it is a bit less special than the Germans. Like the looks of mine better after I swapped on a new set of more aggressive rims

I just pick up an 2011 Chevy Tahoe with Tow package, may not be the classiest but it looks sweet, rides great and they were practically giving them away since the 12's are around.

RSquared are awesome but are terrible in maintenance and gas.

Where in nyc are you, im in manhattan every day!

NO KIDDING. I always heard about Rover electrical issues. But to a car with 8 miles on it? yikes...will check out the X5s. Thanks

Live in Battery Park. Work in midtown. So the daily driver is the yellow medallion one with 3 hub caps missing, and the orange/blue lines (which have been working worse and worse since 2008).

Will keep my eyes pealed for your giant Tahoe cruising down 5th Ave!
