That race just to taxing on equipment and drivers. insanely brutal.
to just finish you have to get crazy lucky, make zero mistakes.
think about how many mistakes one verges on making in a 1hr sprint, now do that 24 times in a row on the same equipment against the best in the world.
hats off to carlos for throwing his hat in that crazy ring!!

Carlos and teammates got as high as 8th place in a field populated with International Pro-level talent from F1, SuperCup, factory drivers, NASCAR, Indy, CART.
Unfortunately, Aero Beetle broke the transmission twice, nice report here ==>http://axisofoversteer.blogspot.com/...e-axis-68.html
They finished the race, a 24 hours race, a great achievement !!!

Oh and then McDreamy punted the car, so it finished looking a bit like Frankenbeetle.

Thanks guys for all the kind words!
Indeed it was an extremely exciting adventure. Specially this year, being the 50th anniversary and with the introduction of Ferrari and Audi in the GT field, just looking at the driver's roster of that GT field felt like playing in the World Cup of Sports GT Racing.
Not only the race but prior to it there are many little events that make the 2012 Rolex24 a highlight of driving/racing hobby/passion. Sitting next to the likes of Emmanuelle Pirro in the "Rookie" driver's meeting just felt unreal.
Unfortunately, the glory of a Solid placed finish (Top 10 or maybe Top5?) become undone when the gearbox failed around 4am, and where forced to run without 2nd gear until 11am when we just had to park the car and replace the transmission just to be able of having the honor of finishing this race.
However, I can't wait to get back on my own racecar this weekend at Sebring and race without that big Stamp on my brain that said "I CANT F$%K UP THE CAR FOR MY TEAM MATES". I was ready physically for the Rolex24 but the mental strain I felt once the weekend was over was something else!
