Windshield mount for iPhone
Hey guys, long time lurker here. I'm interested in purchasing the Harry's Laptimer app for my iPhone and was wondering what a good mount it for the windshield. I'm not sure I'm going to use the video aspect of it (I have a GoPro for that) but want a windshield mount in order to have a strong GPS signal. Can you guys recommend a decent cheap setup that will keep my phone stuck to my windshield? Thanks!

I just use a basic suction mount that I got from Verizon for $20. I usually run it with a zip tie looped through the defroster vent as a safety tether, but I have had no problems with this setup at several track days.
Harry's Lap Timer is a neat little app too - you can get some decent data and cool video (especially with the data overlay!)

This makes a HUGE difference with Harry's! Good advice.

Please be careful about mounting anything in your car with suction cups. If it flies off its mount either someone in the car will get hit with it or the driver will become distracted and you'll wish the only thing you hit was an iPhone. When I get into a car as an instructor I will always ask the driver to remove anything in the cabin that is secured with a suction cup. I am really unhappy when I am behind someone who mounts a camera on the outside of their car with a suction cup. I have to figure that getting your windshield smashed by a camera, perhaps even causing a trip into a wall, is not a "racing incident".

A question about the app itself: is the difference between the regular and pro the video ability? Like I mentioned before I have a GoPro so I was really just looking for telemetry/lap times.

Not sure about the difference in apps, but I have the pro version. For lap times it isn't bad, but telemetry was a bit lacking for me. Depending on what you are looking for it may not be good enough. I already have a racepak system, so the lack of telemetry wasn't a big deal for me.

+1 on the ram mount. That in combo with the iPhone 4s produces killer video (http://youtu.be/mIdhA5IjW5c) and is rock solid. Harry's is awesome too...pro version allows capture and overlay of data on video...takes a while(almost twice the video length) to integrate the two, but getting the telemetry and timing is pretty cool as you view the video. Plus you can do it all on the iPhone.

Three Wheelin'
Tom Tom Mount - provides a good solid mount and power!
I use iPhone 4s, HLTP, GoPro HD Video and Dashware to overlay everything together.
Posted two sessions on my Youtube Channel (I have to mount camera on rear window due to instructor riding along).

I have not tried recording Video on the phone...

I think that you can set it to record the entire session so that you get every lap, but then, of course, you do not get separate videos and you need to do editing if you want them. I have not tried this yet.
