The 996 makes a cost effective platform for both DE & Club racing.

One full year of racing and enjoyed it immensely. Porsche MS AOS is a must too if you get a 3.6.

Interesting, any chance you sold your 944/968 car into Canada?

Sorry to hear you sold off old yeller.
If you were comfortable tracking a 944/968 for 14 years, you should have even less 'when will the engine explode' anxiety w/ a 996. ;-)

Good point! Old yeller blew its engine in 2010, then caught fire in 2011.

I was helping him go through it last weekend, getting up to speed on the car and pulling some wrenches. Small world. It is a really nicely put together track car, great cage, all the best pieces from the 944 world, I was very impressed. Good luck with the next car, I'm sure it will be great!

Aw you guys are making me get all misty.

Terry, have a look at the Koni Challenge cars. Not sure if they meet the street legal criteria, but good price (different bracket than 944s) and very well sorted.

Anyone happen to know what class the Koni cars would run in PCA?

They fit very nicely into I stock. weight is about 2900 without driver. Stock motor and trans. No changes to pick up points of suspension. GTB is another class for them but you need to spend money to get rid of weight.

There is one bad thing- some folks mistake you for a slow Cup car (instead of a quick Coupe car).

Ritter V3.4 (David) should know, he's wrung the crap out of that thing for several years and it still keeps going. Great car, after watching David the 996 is my choice if I can get the wife to agree at some point that I need to upgrade.

I've seen many Koni Challenge Cars and they're always pretty beat up. Doesn't mean there isn't a pristine one sitting somewhere that didn't go 15 rounds with Tyson, but racing in the Koni series was always tough on the cars. I think you'd be better off buying a low mileage clean street car and coverting it to your tastes and needs. Koni cars had some nice stuff and some junk like the shocks. If you can buy it at street car value then fine, but short of putting it on a jig you're just rolling the dice....

That's funny stuff an oh so true....

David what are your rear spring rates? You need to get that inside front wheel back down on the ground...
