Yes I know racing season is about done, but that is when the regions start planning for next year.

For ever we have had our club race at Mid-Ohio in the middle of May. As many know who go to that event, we have had our issues with rain. Also our event is just two weeks away from the CR at the Glenn.

We are strongly considering moving our race to August 17-19, 2012. The weather will be warmer and dryer. If the 2012 races fall on the same weekends, we would not be in conflict or close to any other race in our regional area.

So my question is what do you think of this change and would it encourage you to attend this race. We would like to build this event back to the stature of a Must Attend event. We think getting away from the Glenn event and getting away from the May Rain is a positive step.

It would be a 3 day race event, we may even begin "Speed Week" on Wednesday with a DE and/or low cost testing days.

I raced Mid-Ohio for the first time this year and loved it, even in the rain. The rain doesn't bother me as much as its timing relative to WGI, as you mention. I am an advocate of moving the Mid-Ohio race to August, and I am sure I could get a couple more east coast racers to attend if it were in August.

 

Moving it to August would get my vote.

 

August would be much better...I'd be far more likely to attend. May has too many conflicting things.

Yep. That would be a good thing. I may attend it, making the tri from Montreal. If it stays in May, I will not.

2 weeks after Mosport, but still I think it is much better the 2 weeks before the Glen.
