Default Stand 21 crash

I complain about the details like poor visor seal that falls off my SA2005 S21 but if the driver can survive this I guess it is time to take another look at S21.

I am a big fan of Stand21. I wonder how other helmets would have performed.?

I will only use Stand21 gear. Best safety gear money can buy.

I've always liked Stand21 but I have to play the skeptical scientist.

They sure make a lot of claims without much proof.

That helmet is destroyed, unable to take a frontal hit again, HNR post area deformed, etc. I'd rather my helmet not have any of those problems after a nasty hit. Is that possible? Who knows but I personally wouldn't be showing off a helmet that's been compromised in multiple spots showing how awesome it is. I'd show of a helmet that has been through a similar experience with scuffs and scrapes(which they have in their showrooms), not massive failures.

Would be nice to see an incar video. How fast was the car moving, etc. Series, seat, builder, etc. Once the seat broke the tightness of the belts was gone and the HANS wasn't as effective either.

As the OP I was impressed but maybe I should not because like you say what where the conditions. I have a SA2005 S21 helmet that is my 3rd helmet. Each helmet as I have grown in the sport has gotten more expensive following right or wrong the $10 head get a $10 helmet philosophy. I will say that of all the helmets I have bought this S21 is of the poorest non-vital construction. Both seals peal off, the visor sealing is poor, one visor retention stud just plain fell off, visor always slips down, the remaining stud needs regular adjustment, neck area padding unvelcro's itself too easy. Interestingly, I was very impressed by the el cheapo pyrotech SA2010 I bought for my kid to do one auto-x event. I was so impressed by the build quality of this $299 helmet that I bought the fancy carbon one for 600. That was a fail! I'm not sure what on that carbon helmet is 600 but it was exactly the same as the cheapest one and while it was a small vs. XS size it was in "carbon" BUT 3 oz heavier at 3lbs 9OZ! What a pig and it just did not fit me well. My old S21 was 3lbs on the dot with a smaller eyeport. I thought about just buying another S21 but if you google for people who sell them you come up empty. I think I'll buy a Carbon Simpson DevilRay at under 3lbs.

Interesting.....

Not sure what they are showing. The helmet, apparantly, did it's job protecting the driver. But, it is totalled. Which it should be, as any helmet involved in a an incendent should be shelved. However, not sure this makes a good marketing exercise.

Like posted above, some good in car video would help sell the product.

The product broke, but the driver, I assume, was not injured. Driver was safe because of this particular helmet? Or safe because of the standards the helmet was tested to? How would another brand of helmet faired?

One accident, one helmet, one unknown set of cricumstances..... That said, we like the Stand21 products, just not sure this video is a reason to choose it over the other choices in the market place.

Cheers

You should see my Arai Motorcycle helmet after my crash! My Arai helped save my life. This was a slower speed crash where a oncomming car took a left turn into me at the last second. Every bone in my left arm is bolted together, right arm is bolted together, pevis has rods going through it holding it together and I lost my entire left leg just belw my hip. The impact of this crash split the skin on my forhead and my Arai helped save my head.
