I bought some damaged lexan sheets and cut out windows using a dremel. I then got some wing DZUS fasteners and mounts and welded them to the car. All I need to do know is put in the window and pop in 3 of these hand tight fasteners.

Don't use carpet wrap. The glue is not intended for smooth surfaces or to get wet. I use crash wrap, one secton over each side window pulled tight and one over the windsheld overlaping the sides a bit. Works great takes 5 min to install no muss no fuss. Any knid of cover must be held from rubbing in the wind. If flutters it will get some road grit and grind away on the windsheld or paint.

cover
I had a boat-like cover made by the guys at Fifth Gear in Lewisville Texas. It snaps on to the car while trailiering fully covering the windsheild and side windows. It is futher secured under the trunk and bonnet lids. Works great while trailering. It only cost a few hundred to have made and goes on and off very easily.

On my old Koni I made the windows out of Plexiglass.
On my M3 the PO took the factory windows and put hooks where there are holes in the glass. You simply slide the window into the channel and it holds great..
If you still have your factory windows and are interested in this concept, let me know and I'll post pics.

Resurrecting this old thread. Just got Cayman race car, no side windows (or template), open trailer. What has worked since this old post? Has anybody found a company that has something to buy off the shelf?
Thanks,

I ended up making windows out of Plexiglas for my car. See my post in the thread below:

That's what I use on my SPB. The stuff made to stick to floors and available at paint stores. Stays on while trailering and comes off clean but you have to get it on before the rain starts.

I used plexi-glass and painters tape but on the way back from the Glen I got caught in a torrential rain storm. Painters tape allowed water to leak in, pools of water in the car, and blew out the rear control module.
$1,000 later to get that sorted out I bought the enclosed trailer and have never once regretted it!

I use crash wrap with the edges taped with Gorilla Tape (don't use cheap duct tape as it leaves residue). Crash wrap by itself will blow loose, i've towed 6 hours and more with wrap/tape w/o issue. My car has no window "rails" or a place to anchor them so Plexiglas isn't an option.
