Don't forget water/Gatorade (and lots of it) - I couldn't believe at first how much water I went through at my first few track days, but track driving is like any other sport: your body needs to be well hydrated to perform at its peak.

Which track are you going to?

Here is my track packing list. Also includes the morning pre-drive checklist.

Enjoy the DE!

These checklists make me laugh a little. I keep all my track stuff in two specific spots in the garage. I make sure those shelves are empty before I leave. I have specific tools for the garage and those for teh track. I guess I do this so much I have it down to a science. OP, you will too one day.

Just be yourself. If yourself is cool that is. Otherwise, act cool and no one will know the difference.

spend time making sure the car is in good shape. tires brakes fluids and the like. Print out the tech form for the group you plan to run with and read it over before you get the car inspected. This will give you an idea of what is important. Car in good solid as built working condition. You want your car to run and work well so you can work on driving it rather than working on it in the paddock or worse. As noted fresh brake fluid is not an item to pass over. You don't need to show up with the car dripping in tire shine and armorall saturated seats. No one count points off for cosmetics.

Some PCA regions allow the owner of the HPDE car to do the inspection themselves. The reasoning, I guess, is no one knows their car better than the owner. And because I am familiar with all aspects of the tech requirement, I believe I do a more thorough (ie safety) inspection than otherwise. Just the same, if you feel at all uncomfortable doing your own, take it to your local Porsche dealership. I;ve never heard of them charging for this service.

What's puzzling to me is one region will conduct a more complete "tech inspection" than an other. That inconsistency is a potential problem. So bottom line -- make your car is in tip-top shape, or please stay off the track.

I think you'll find this same question has been asked plenty of times on this forum; it may be helpful to do a search on the subject...

The one thing I would recommend is to ask your instructor to give a ride in his car. It is one thing to have someone tell you to do something vs having that person show you. This is what you will require the clean underwear for.

What is a "Fire proof blanket," and why is it in the "Comfort" section? Your DE's appear to be far more interesting than mine.

For the OP, this list is overkill for you, but consider it a warning listing future requirements for a activity you may find addictive.
