Question Which car for Riesentoter Pocono IMSA Course?

Hi All,

I am running with Riesentoter for the Pocono IMSA event. Any thoughts on whether i should take my main track car, 997S (with r888s) or 993TT with Michelin PS2 N specs.

I have 5-6 days at Pocono, but only on the north course... the IMSA has a lot of straights which would benefit the 993TT... Seems more of a speed track than a technical (as opposed to Lime Rock, which is exclusively 997)

Thanks, Ross

Running the banked turns on a dry track I would opt for the track prepped car. Even with the chicane Turn 1 will be pretty fast.

Saturday is "Double Infield", you'll need handling there. Why can't you drive R888 to the track? Other then the noise, no issues, I drive to the track and did it for a season wioth R888.

Take the car your most comfortable driving at speed. Bumpy on the front and back straights, hugh bump with unsettling of the car entering at nascar 2 and serious trail braking from 150 mph going into one. Have fun.

bring whichever car you don't care if big chunks of asphalt get kicked up and dent your car and crack the windshield

Thanks for all advice - I think i will take the 997... keep 993tt for monticello or lightning.

rent a rallycross car and drive that! My 968's splitter and diffuser almost did not survive this weekend with NASA in double infield configuartion. North infield entrance CW is as bumpy as ever and will bottom out a lot of race cars. The bump exiting the infiled on to the "Tunnel Turn" is more of a catapult than a bump. The entrance to the South Course CW is repaved, but the section thereafter is rough at best.

The Long "IMSA" course suffers the same North Infield issues. We ran it both directions 2 months ago with no chicane, and even though it is fun, it is VERY fast and most need to add a lot of negative camber to avoid chewing out the front outside tire edge on the 24 degree NASCAR T1. I ran over 4 degrees on my 968. I was flat out through it tough.... BTW, 2nd groove from the bottom at T1 worked best for me as it was the least rough and bumpy....

Here is a link to thye video (can't figure out how to embed) of the Saturday Long Course CW Race a few months back. The bumps are pretty evident even after the video cam stabilization system has done its thing.... Sorry for the terrible camera angle...

I will publish the CCW video later today if you are interested in seeing as well.....

Cheers,

Be prepared. Track is rougher / bumpier than ever!! Repaving starting end of September. South course deteriorated further from non-use but entry has been repaved/repaired. Still "speed bump" at Devil's Elbow.

Here is s short extract from Sunday's closing laps of the NASA Race in the double infield..... I had backed off abt 2 seconds off my qualifying pace to try and lower the punishment level...
