how does everyone get their track wheels to the track?
I'm just trying to figure out to get all my stuff for a weekend, a jack, 4 mounted track wheels/tires to Sebring.
I have a 993 and a thule roof rack. I have been trying to come up with a good system since I'm switching to R6s. Is it crazy and unsafe to put all 4 up on the roof vertically side by side? Or would it be better to put 2 up top, 1 in the front trunk and 1 in the passenger seat? that doesn't leave much roof for the other stuff. 3 up and 1 in the trunk?
How does everyone do it?
Don't have the budget for a trailer yet.

1) Find friend with big trailer 2) The roof rack thing and it is sort of crazy 3) small trailer removing the rubber cushions on rear and install short term trailer hitch 4) find another few guys (many of them here on Rennlist) and rent a SMALL storage locker near track (several around) and you all store a jack and tires there.

Don't damage a nice car by using a roof rack. Get a friend to transport your tires or buy a used F-150 and cheap steel trailer. You only live once, just bite the bullet and buy the truck if you are going continue track events.

As other's have said, if you can find someone with a trailer and room, it'll cost you a 6 pack of beer.
If you don't want to rely on someone else, look into a tire tote trailer from Harbor Freight or similar to tow behind your car.

Tire trailer is the best. In Calif they make you drive 55 with any trailer so roof racks are better. Most places just use a tire trailer.
Personally I have a 24 ft enclosed so I carry lots of tires.

I've towed a small Harbor Freight (build it yourself -- held 4 tires and a bin for stuff) behind my '84 911 and now a larger Trailex (holds 8 tires and 2 bins) behind my former GT3 and current Boxster S. I've towed the rig to tracks 8 hours from home. (I'll be going 4 hours to Watkins Glen this weekend.)
I don't have a tow vehicle or a trailer and wouldn't have a place for them. The trailer is small enough to fit in my garage.
For me, this is the way to go. Even if you could squeeze 4 tires into the car, where would you put your clothes etc and your tools?

Saw a 964 with a sweet set up last track event. He had a small trailer just big enough for four wheels and a small box for tools, may have been the HF unit. It connected via a mount above the license plate which connected to the bumper frame. He said it was smooth hauling up to 80mph!
I have a hatchback and can fit wheels plus what ever else I need.
