Being overseen by Red Bull Racing ambassador David Coulthard, Cruise was reported to have reached speeds of 181mph around the 2.5-mile track and, over the 24 laps he completed, he improved his best time by 11 seconds from the start to the end of the day.

Speaking about the event, Coulthard said: "Tom's the real deal. I was surprised that he picked it up so quickly and is such an accomplished driver.

We could get all snooty and say all sorts of things about Mr Cruise. Or we could take David Coulthard's word when he says "Tom picked it up so quickly and is an accomplished driver".

Yes I'm a hater. That guy is a d bag.
But he is a very rich and well connected d-bag and therefore gets to have an F1 experience that the rest of us can only dream about.

Right"... That's why I think he is a d bag, he gets to drive an f1 car, has a boat load of money, cute wife, gets to hang out with Cameron diaz, has the world fooled that he is not gay( not that there is any thing wrong with that)and has that Scientology thing going for him.

What else is there? What a d bag.

Next, Sir A.Wayne will post on how he predicted that Tom Cruise, with Bernie's blessing, will replace Mark Webber at RBR.

Followed by Raj stating that Tom Cruise is actually scheduled to replace Massa at Ferrari next season.

I believe Cruise does most of the stunts in his action movies, and is an accomplished stunt pilot with of of course his own stunt plane and is used to pulling 5-6 g's and up. I would imagine he has been up with fighter pilots also as he did Top Gun movie. Also, I know he has a few crotch rockets and has done stunts in movies on those. He is an adrenalin junkie and as said here has the money to buy and enjoy the toys. Oh, and he used to be a good actor up to about the early to mid 90's before he went to action hero only. The last good movie he did was Minority Report and that was over 10 years ago.

While he certainly has the money to buy a Formula 1 ride, I doubt it since Cruise is pushing 50 now which is kind of old to be racing against guys over 20 years younger. He simply wouldn't be competitve even if he was experienced race car driver.
