Default need 101 on current HJC helmets.

Hi,

to cut story short, could anybody pls summarize core diffs between
current SA2010 AR10 II, Si-12, HX10 II?

Google cannot even find how much any of those helmets weight or may be I do not know what to search for. I am trying to decide between Si-12 and HX10 II.

FWIW, I almost bought one this year, but sent it back for a bell. I found the interior to have less padding and over all just inferior to the bell. As for the weights ( $350 and up) they are all very similar, so much that you probably won't be able to tell the difference when holding them.

i heard that ventilation of Si-12 is way better than on any of Bells. Which Bell did you choose? Hmm. so far i heard nothing but good about HJC. I guess that is what this forum is for, as I do not have possbility to try them both myself. As of weight - M4 Bell is almost whole pound heavier than Si-12 imho it is quite a lot of diff to feel...

I have the new HJC AR-10, and for a recreational driver, it's great. The weight is not an issue.

Great price and Rennlist discount from APEX, BTW.

I guess it depends on how many hours you will get on track before it expires or you stink it up.

Best,

Matt

I've recently made the switch from a Simpson Voyager to an Arai GP-6. In a street car, on the track, I can't really tell a difference between the weights. Holding them by hand the Simpson feels like a brick. Beyond the pure safety factor in an impact of the lighter weight, which is negated if you're using a HANS, I have never noticed a difference in helmet weights until you get in something that has some serious lateral capability.

I was so happy with Stand-21 F21 that I purchased a 2005 instead of any 2011. Nothing like Stand 21. What ever helmet you purchase you should try them on. They all fit differently. Stand 21 can be custom sized with different inserts.

Default HJC Helmets

Best thing to do is try them on the helmets if you can. We offer a free exchange program on new helmets - no restock fee, you just pay shipping charges. HJC tends to run a little more snug than Bell so it helps to try them on or at least take some measurements and consult the size charts for guidance.

utkinpol:
What brand helmet are you currently using? The fit does vary between manufacturers. I have always worn Bell since they fit my head well. On my head the HJC Si-12 doesn't fit as well as my Bell Vortex.

If you have a tailor's tape at home, do the following:

Have an assistant use a measuring tape, or a piece of string to measure the circumference of your head starting at a point approximately one inch above the eyebrows in front, around a point in the back of the head that results in the largest possible measurement, and finally wrapping back to the front. It is a good idea to take several measurements to make sure you have the largest one. We have sizing charts under the description of each make and model of helmet we have in stock.

If you have any questions, give us a call and we'll be happy to assist you when taking the measurements. Our toll free number is 800-934-9112.

Kind regards,

I heard it's more or less close to the feeling of a Bell. Is it true? I'm also interested in the carbon one. Where did you get from? Thanks.

The last 2 helmets I had were Bell, and they fit fine. I now have an SI-12, and had to go to one size smaller. I can definitely feel the lighter weight. The cheek padding is a little more tight than on the Bell ( for me). I like it a lot, and will probably stay with HJC unless something even lighter comes around. I instruct, so I'm on track for a LONG time during a typical DE weekend. I feel the weight difference.
The Chatterbox is also very easy to mount in the HJC. It is a little more difficult to get my sunglasses on with the HJC, but once in, no problem with the slightly smaller eye port.
I agree. try one on before you purchase.
