Log Book Location
Race car log books can be an important document, providing provenance and history for our cars, not to mention compliance.
Many clubs ask that we keep them IN the car at all times. But, in the event of a fire, it could be the first thing to go.
I used to stash mine under my seat cushion (not the seat itself) but now I've taken the cushion out.
So, I'm wondering, where are you guys stashing your log books?

If it catches on fire, it' likely it's a total loss or at minimum a rebuilt which would require a new log book anyway.
People tell me to put it in a sealed ziplock bag inside the driver's side door, but I don't feel comfortable with that, so I just keep it in with my docs in a folder in my track bag along with the other three series log books.

I use a UPS or Fedex clear plastic enveloppe with one sticky side (where they usually put the waybill) and stick it either to the tunnel or the back of the seat. Works fine.

+1 Must be in the car.
PCA was enforcing this at the Watkins Club Race. Most folks were putting them in zip lock bags and wedging them somewhere in the front trunk. I did a quick on the spot solution using double zip lock bags, the larger one zipped to something and the second bag inside the first.

I have been asked for it several times, usually it is in the car but might take a year or so after getting a new race car for that to happen. I got a school pencil holder for notebooks at CVS that's just the right size and zip tied it with the 3 ring binder holes to my roll cage.

I bought an I-Pad zippered sleeve at Staples and glued it to the firewall in the trunk...easy to zip open and holds ALL 5 log books! It's actually quite handy to know where they are all the time..

Logbook required in the car? That's just stupid. If you want to fine, but requiring it is weird on many levels.
Here put this non-essential loose equipment in the car..

Inside the car just seems weird. Why have it in the car? Is the track bag too far away? Don't you have to show it at each PCA race? If so, it is at the track.

zip-lock bag in rear trunk. I too think its rather silly keeping it in the car. If an issue came up bring docs to tech, the book has two images of the car as part of it
