The speed in which you can get from Braking Zone (begin applying brakes) to Turn In (back on gas) is far quicker doing it the way this Supra driver does it - vs. the match-rev method. Not even close.

Modern gearbox's don't care one way or the other. Gearboxes from the 'old days'... yeah they cared.

I'm glad my little comment morphed into a 4 page thread - some good info posted, unfortunately for the OP, its been 99% for Heel toe...not surprisingly.

Your theory just doesn't add up, and I think its easy to conclude the driver in that video (as it seems its not you?) would benefit from learning how to heel toe.

Once you push the clutch in, your rpm's drop, by the time you shift and release the clutch, even if you are very fast, your rpm's are going to be too low to match the lower gears RPM. Just no way around it, heel toe FTW!

I don't want to get into the argument, but here is a 924S (944) heel-and-toe video of mine. I find the pedal arrangement very condusive to heel-and-toe.

My VW GTi, now that car was impossible to heel-and-toe.

And be gentle, I know its auto-x, but its $30 and allows me to use my car more often than strictly track days.

Cheers,
Chris

If you do this "as you slow" while pushing the throttle to match revs, meaning you are still braking, this is called heel & toe... skipping gears to downshift to the lowest is a question of preference only.

This is different obviously but this is certainly a slower process as you HAVE TO coast if you feed the gas pedal with the clutch depressed while you are not braking. You could brake later if you would do this while still under braking.

Wow, any more videos of the car. It looks great to me, what a crazy speed. It’s a killer for me.
