That is the trade off - a big rig is great for towing large enclosed trailers but are terrible for daily drivers with low mpg and very difficult to park almost anywhere crowded. Keep the VW and tow with open trailer if you need to actually use the tow vehicle for daily driving duty.

That is the trade off - a big rig is great for towing large enclosed trailers but are terrible for daily drivers with low mpg and very difficult to park almost anywhere crowded. Keep the VW and tow with open trailer if you need to actually use the tow vehicle for daily driving duty.

The fact you can't use a weight distributing hitch with the Touraeg (VW specified), rules out most enclosed trailers. You're smart to stick with the open for now.

My GTS is pulling a 20' enclosed aluminum. I am estimating mid 6500 loaded tows great runs 85 with out problem and never a twitch. My F150 with an open trailer was not near as stable.

20' ATC V-nose works real well with the T-reg as long as you watch your speed. Been towing for 7 years and only issue so far is the need to slow down for cross winds.
