Forced Air helmets.

From what I've been told the top forced air styles do the best to spread the air over the head/face.

I have another idea, but don't have the 'fixin's' to make it - may I send a PM? I am afraid the forced air will bother my eyes.

Yes. Besides the forced air systems, Fresh Air Systems offers a shirt and hood combination that is used with their standard driver cooling system that we stock. It's not on the web site so if you're interested give us a call .

This may be what I'm looking for, so I apologize in advance if what I suggest is an enzo.

I know that helmets have safety standards and I in NO way want to breach that integrity, but this is what I was thinking (not sure if it will work).

A. Creating a pocket that can be closed with velcro between the helmet and the padding, and the wearer can if they choose, place frozen pre formed packets (there is a gel substance that I do not know the name of) into these pockets which will make the padding cool.

B. Make the padding out of this gel substance and the padding (covered, of course) can be removed and placed into the fridge (or an ice chest and covered with ice) to get cold and then velcroed back into the helmet before wearing.

Clear as mud? I am not a scientist, so I am open to any suggestions that you may have.

Don't want to rain on your parade but you should keep in mind that any added weight to your head is bad when you get in a wreck. Added weight also adds to driver discomfort while cornering under high G loads.

I did think of that, which is why the substance needed to make it cool would need to be lite weight. As I stated, I am not a scientist, but I know of many products that weigh very little, yet they do a wonderful job. I totally get the fact that the helmet cannot weigh the head and neck down, which is why I was hoping that someone had some suggestions for me.

Karen,

I think you will find this thread enlightening:

https://rennlist.com/forums/racing-a...g-options.html

Ignore all the posts from "Frank Bullitt".

See post #70 which has some very interesting information. Basically, if you use a Cool Shirt or similar, you probably don't really need air blowing into your helmet or cool packs in your helmet.

Default Hooded Cool Shirt

Karen,

I would avoid adding cool gel packs to the helmet. The helmet should fit as snugh as possible without causing pain. I would be concerned that you would have to use a slightly larger sized helmet to incorporate the gel packs. I've seen headbands with cooling gel packs in them that people use for sports activities or working in hot environments; however, again I would be concerned this you would have to compromise the fit of the helmet.

As some other folks mentioned, Cool Shirt makes a hooded cool shirt. I've had some customers use them and love them. I think this would be the best solution if you don't want cool air blowing on your face and if you have room for a cooler or bag system in your vehicle.

Here's a link to the cool shirt accessories to show what's available:

I've been wearing a Bell Vortex.2 Top Air hooked up to a FAST system and I really like it. It keeps my head cool even with a balaclava on. This helps me concentrate during the sessions.

Does the "breeze" bother your eyes.

I ask because I'm outdoors 24/7 it seems and at times my eys are farking tired of the wind and tear up, but the helmet blower sounds like a great option.
