Default Trailer Tie Down Straps

My straps are getting old and a search showed no recent posts. Price always a factor. Securing a 944 to a trail ex open. Suggestions?
Thanks

Mac's makes some of the nicest stuff out there.

I use these and have had nothing to complain about.

I am into year 5 on those blue G-Force ratchet tie downs and they still are in pretty decent shape. The first 4 years were all outside on an open trailer... but now they are enclosed so less UV. So far only the spring closing latch has weakened on a couple of them but not bad enough to buy new ones.

+1 on Macs.....btw....I am new to towing and on my way to the track the first time, I had the car in neutral and the parking brake on. When I left to go home, I realized that I shouldn't set the parking brake due to the heat from the brakes and was in a quandry as what to do. I asked the Ferrari guys how they tied their Ferrari's down and they said always in neutral without the parking brake. I now tie down this way and so far no problems. Of course I check for loosening a few times on the way home ~ 100 miles. Anyone care to share their thoughts on tying down this way?

If you have a parking brake, use it in neutral. Why? Because if the car is in gear & you have a sudden stop, or a really nasty bump, the car may lurch so hard it breaks a tooth in the gear it is in. EX-PEN-SIVE

Not to be an ***, but seems pretty unlikely. The gears are stronger than the compression in the motor. Plus, I think anyone at the track has bump started a car at some point.

A sudden jolt could easily knock a gear tooth out, regardless of compression, in 1st gear or reverse. And I would never bump start a car w/o having someone declutch it first, before releasing the clutch.

And....even if you disagree....are you really willing to take that chance?

My ratchets are good and I just would like to replace the straps on either side. Does anyone just sells the straps with twisted snap hooks? I do not see that option on any places that I have looked.
