Not sure how much they deal. Mine was a private sale, used. But, I've been to their plant in Ohio (picked up replacement ramps). And the folks there are great to deal with.

Bolted. Makes it very easy to add and change parts. Their T-bolt system works very well.

Open. As mentioned provides access under the car if needed (BTDT). For occasional utitily needs, a couple pieces of 3/4" plywood can be dropped in.

IIRC, 9' ramps are an option. I had them on mine and was able to load a variety of lowered cars. RaceRamps would extend the flexibility, if needed.

The provided 2-speed hand winch works GREAT! Saved me a couple of times. However, over the years have found that with 4 friends nearby, you can pretty much push any track car onto any trailer.

I eventually sold my Trailex for an enclosed, in order to haul/store more stuff. But I do miss it. If I ever live somewhere with enough space to store 2 trailers, I would seriously consider getting another Trailex because it was so convenient versus the enclosed. Trailex's also hold their value and require very little maintenance.

Might be worth making some phone calls to dealers in your area, pm me if you want specifics.

I am sure Bud, Scott, and Brian are happy about the new trailer! See you next month! Have fun at Homestead sorry Andrea and I cannot make it.

I just (well, before cocktails) had a conversation with the young lady at the telephone desk.

She tells me that the email didn't get answered promptly because they're swamped and that despite all, are having a record year. I'm supprised, happy for any small biz in that position and yet see any deal shot to hell.

I'll talk with the guys on Mon and report back.

If that conversation was with trailex (i didn't quite follow), ask for Carl, the general manager, who always treats his customers, and even the second and third buyers of his products, with appreciation. He's a PCA member, as well.
No relation, but he's answered lots of my questions, mostly dumb, about my trailex, now turning over 100,000 miles.

I emailed on Thurs AM and by Fri eve had no response.

Simply called a bit late on Friday to find anybody as it was close to closing time. I'll certainly ask for Carl on Monday, thanks.

Really, Eric? I know it was long ago (say, maybe 6-8 years ago), but when I was researching open trailers that were light, and I mean light as I did not have a large tow rig, Trailex had the goods. I saw no other offereing that were even close in weight and build quality that matched, even given trailex' prices. Admittedly, they are higher than others, but having lived with mine these many years, and likewise heard from others with Trailex both open and closed, I cannot help but conclude the higher price of admission is well worth it given the durability and reputation these trailers enjoy (not to mention resale value!). Is R&R a new outfit, never heard of em?

Trailex with a the full floorpan is 10-1100ish lbs right?
Featherlite is 1400 lbs

4700 new for Featherlite
7700 new for Trailex

Trailex makes a heck of a trailer and the 9500 pound is great if you are pulling with a small vehicle thats at a 5000 pound limit. However for a full size pickup I didn't see the need to spend 3000 more for 3-400 pounds.

my FL has been great - just add a pair of race ramps to lengthen the FL ramps and you are good to go (no trailex dealer anywhere near me)
trailex is a great trailer as well but as previously mentioned in this thread, you can get a FL at a good discount etc

Hi Joe,

Yes, that is exactly my point: that if one needs the extra lightness as I did, then there is no one I found that comes close. And for me, the 7541's savings (compared to the FeatherL or any other alum open trailer) was around 500 or so pounds, IIRC back then. But like with our cars,
"adding lightness" costs ya.
I now have a Suburban that can easily handle more weight so it's no longer an issue, but no one can argue that having a lighter rig behind the bumper isn't a good thing.

Absolutely and my typo of 9500 is bad should be 950 which is incredibly light (my dinky single axle open trailer for formula cars is only 100 pounds less than that and it couldn't carry even half as much weight as a trailex. Plus the other great thing they do is on their trailers they move the axle around to balance the load better. Trailex is great stuff and the quality has always been top notch. I just always am confused when I see a full size pickup pulling a brandy new Trailex open.

That's probably to be able to open the door to get out of the car after loading.

Yup really. My 16' R&R open trailer weighs 1180 lbs, costs $4,000 and is very well constructed, with alum wheels, spare, and brakes. I can't imagine how you could justify Featherlite or Trailex at twice the price. They're out of Michigan. I added a tongue box, Trailex tire rack, and now mount the ramps on the sides to the tire rack instead of front.

Here's their open trailers: http://www.aluminumtrailers.org/?page_id=52

And the specs: http://www.aluminumtrailers.org/wp-c...car-hauler.pdf
