Default ORP?

Hey all,

I am heading to ORP next month for the first time.

Any suggestions as to the best airport to fly into and where to stay?

Thanks.

The Closest place to the track, and AMAZING people:
Wild Winds Ranch
541-350-4197
www.wildwindsranch.com

Just 10miles north of the track in Moro:
Tall Winds Motel
541-565-3519
Located on Hwy 97

I think the closest airport is Wasco, but it's reallllly small. The next biggest would be The Dalles and then Portland.

I've always just driven down from Vancouver BC.

ORP is an awesome track. Very challenging and a blast to drive. As Rich said, probably easiest to fly to Portland and drive out. The drive through the Gorge is great anyway and there are a couple of alternative routes that are great roads as well.

What are you coming down for? Just a track day? Any chance it is the Conference Memorial Day race weekend? I'll be there with the 944 for that.

Here is a full race video from ORP on a beautiful October day last fall. Can't wait to get back out there!

Actually VR that is a current point of contention... no single corner numbering system has been provided and so it makes discussing the track challenging. Of course there are also corner names to keep it interesting. But somewhere between around 16-18 is the common count.

The cool thing about ORP is that is was developed in a grass roots manner by local racers for local racers. The whole zoning and planning process was done together with the local folks of Grass Valley and Moro and Sherman County, and we make an effort to work with the locals and provide some rural 'economic stimulus'. No dreams of F1 or NASCAR, just a great track for club racing and HPDE, away from the zoning and sound restrictions of the city.

Facilities are still being developed and they've got work ahead of them, but after many years the track is in place and we are racing on it. Next up... Shelton, Washington and the Ridge Motorsports Park.

Hmmm, I can drive to the Alberta/Montana border in about 5 hours.

Anyone know how long a drive it would be to ORP from the US/Canada Montana border?

Towing a trailer it's 11 hours to Spokane from Edmonton then just about 5 hours to ORP from Spokane. Couple of hours less if driving a car I'm sure.

Thanks Peter, good to know! That's not as far as I thought it would be, might be worth a visit this summer as my little sister lives in Oregon, never done the drive.

Thanks for the video. Track looks amazing!

It'll be just a track day the first weekend of May.

I guess a group of us are already booked to stay at the three Rivers in Biggs Junction.

Peter - are you going to be there? I think Russ, Neville, Felix and I are all going with Paul (and Neville will have 2 cars).

So you guys are running the Proformance days on May 7 & 8? It's a 2 hour drive for me but the back roads are awesome in the Boxster when the weather is nice. Always have a great experience meeting some RL folks from far away!

Let me know what day you are planning to run and I'll take a drive out there if I can.

AFAIK we are running both days as well as an extra day May 9.

I'd be great to meet any fellow Rennlisters - we'll be hanging out by a huge white transport truck.
