I may have something you can use as a dangling carrot :-)
I wouldn't be too excited to head that direction with the weather forecast, but I'd wait till Wednesday to decide

Must be because we just used our 90 degree weather this last weekend. Take the forecast more seriously about mid week, the forecast around here always seem completely different from one day to the next when looking at extended weather.....

JUST THINK OF IT AS FLUFFY RAIN. THE GROUND WILL BE TO WARM FOR IT TO STICK.

Bring your own shade. Tons of asphalt for parking. Raced SM there for many years. Lots of concrete (don't ask how I know...) so be CAREFUL. Respect the "bus-stop" chicane on the back straight- if you screw that up you will be taking your car home on a trailer in pieces!! Also respect the little rise at the end of the front straight and the right-left kink after it, if you're using the full track.

Not much around the track for food lodging, need to head north and west.

Good luck, and keep it on the track!!

The track has changed over the last few years, based on SCCA and Superbikes. The concrete has been pushed back in places. The bus stop is gone. 1-2 is now a sweeper as is 8-9. Its a fast fun track with fast and slow sections.

There will be a bunch of KCRPCA racers and DE ers with many years and many laps. Feel free to get tips from any of the local guys.

Man, I got like 50 front windshield rock chips over the weekend! How about everyone else? What was the deal with all the rocks on the track?

I got a cracked windshield on my truck on the way there and on my race car Saturday morning. Seemed like more than usual grit on the track to me too.

Didn't get any video.

I had some good racing with John Marchant in the 'Momo' car. Got him on one practice start, he got me on another and finished the fun race ahead of me. In Sprint 1 I missed several opportunities to pass him. Got next to him at the exit of the carousel a couple of times and went door to door through 10 once but didn't make it stick. John had to quit the race after contact with one of the cup cars. The Sunday morning sprint John got passed by the lead boxter at the start and I got away from him. He eventually got around the boxter and came after me but each time he got close he made a big mistake and dropped way back. My clutch quit working on the cool down lap so I missed the last sprint race.

I made my first trip to Heartland for this event. The club was great. The weather was diverse. The track was fast and fun and didn't seem to have too require the use of a truly distinct rain line.
I also watched the battle between Ron and the Momo Cayman. It was a tributes to Ron's skill and the longevity of the 944 platform.
