I don't know what happened, I watched it a few times. While the lights went green, the flagger on drivers left never stopped waving the yellow flag. I would guess the person more at fault would be the person manning the lights. Still, pretty crappy turn of events.

what a bunch of morons! everyone should have the "green green gree" in the radios, INCLUDING THE pace car. for him to stay out for any reason was a HUGE mistake. that one flagger waving a green shouldnt be enough to stop a start. if you get green lights, you are go! thats like getting the green flag in our races and then immedately them trying to wave everyone off! sorry, that ship has sailed! better grab the field at the first corner.
what a mess!

It's very unlikely that this is the Pace Car's fault. The Pace car driver would have been on the radio with race control. Race control would have told the pace car to pit in prior to the start. If the pace car missed the call to pit-in, race control would should have seen that and called off the start.

seems like the fault of whoever was operating the lights more than the pacecar. what a blunder, took out a lot of 911's too.

there is no such think as calling off a start. once you start , its a go, unless you have a blind pregnant lady wondering on the track at turn one, then red flags would be thrown! that pace car should have exited, or the radio guys that told him they changed their minds , should be never let near a race track again! that was a half a million dollar error!

I'm not so sure that guy waving yellow did the wrong thing. He knew the pace car was still out.
Everyone checking up caused the shunt at the rear.

More importantly; did you get the pace car driver's permission before posting this?

+1. Appears to be a major CF from the light operator....

So you've driven a pace car and are knowledgeable about the communications that go on between race control and the pace car driver then?

It was more than that. There were 5 GT3 RSRs in that crunch. What's an RSR cost these days? I think it's in the 400K range?

One would assume there's appropriate communication between a pace car and race control in a LeMans event. I'd like to know how the green lights were activated. With the pace car on track, and yellow flgs waving, why did the lights go green?...
