Reconsidering racing plans in light of rising fuel costs and tire shortages, are you?

Can't you just use one motor instead of all three? Cut your fuel bill by 2/3rds right? Or maybe share the cost of fuel with your friends huh...

Chiming in a little late here, but...
Absolutely, I saw this coming two years ago (well, not revolutions in the Middle East, but rising fuel etc costs). So I started all the way back then to reduce my costs.
I was already towing with a minivan, much more fuel efficient than a pickup. So I ditched my steel open trailer, and now have an open Trailex, super-lightweight. That'll cut the trailer weight in 1/2-1/3rd.
I've also switched cars; still have the 924 for the wife to drive, but I've switched to an engine half the size. The new car also uses takeoff's from one of the most common SCCA racers, so those are plentiful; I've gone from nearly $1k a set for new purple crack to $100-200/set used. Even new, they're cheaper, thanks to a smaller size.
The new car also weighs much less than half the weight of the '24.
Did I mention it's faster? Like, a LOT?
Target zone of operations is just over 2min laps at Road America...

Bobby,
Aren't back surgeries a bitch.I had two, and neither was very sucessfull.
A "4" ain't too bad either.
Its been so long since I've played I still have my Tommy Armour 845's. Also have an original set of Hogan Edge's.Loved that traditional look in a forged club.
Looks like we had better start saving our money for the trip to the C & S. $5 a gal could become a reality by then.
VR is being sheepishly quite about our golf handicaps. We're probably getting hustled and don't know it.
If he shows up with a set of clubs we know we're in trouble.

Bobby & Tom, LOL...no hustle. I have golfed a grand total of 5 times in my life, the most recent in 2002. Each time, I bought the big box of 3 dozen used golfballs at Costco, and returned home with maybe 5. Total.
Clearly, other sports beckoned. Perhaps I should have taken a lesson or gotten some coaching? Anyway, I have great respect for anyone who can play that game at that level.

I know what that's like. I sold my boat last year. I used to say that the second engine was there to push the extra weight created by having two engines! When I ran the numbers and figured out that it was costing me $1,000 to $1,500 per use-day to have the boat, I had to dump it. Power boating may be the one thing that makes racing look reasonable.
