I haven't read it, but I often suspected it. FWIW, I ran a 1:08 in snow tires with a 2.5L Boxster in 40 degree temps when I was a white run group driver. So, the tires can be plenty capable.

Lime Rock in early April is ALWAYS a dicey proposition at best. Even if it runs, grip is nowhere...
