Mid-Ohio Club Race and advanced DE update
Mid-Ohio Region PCA is pleased to provide you this update to our event May 13-15, 2011.
Registration for the club race opens on CR.net on 3/27/11. The advanced DE is already open on CR.net and is half full.
We have arranged to bring in a professional coach, Tommy Byrne for two days, Friday and Saturday to work one on one with Racers and advanced DE drivers.
Tommy Byrne is an Irish former professional race car driver. From 1980 through 1982, Byrne won six major championships including titles in British Formula Three and the Marlboro World Cup. He also made five starts in Formula One in 1982 for the Theodore Team. Over the next several years, he competed in the CART American Racing Series, winning a dozen races before retiring from full time racing in 1992. Currently, Byrne is one of the regular driving instructors at The Mid-Ohio School, based in Lexington, OH at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. He has co-authored an award-winning book entitled Crashed and Byrned: The Greatest Racing Driver You Never Saw.
Club race chair Ken Bigham has arranged a Prime Rib and Chicken Cordon Bleu dinner at the Deer Ridge golf course which is across the street from the headquarters hotel, The Quality Inn. The dinner by the way will be subsidized by our club.
Club race schedule is tentative but it looks like at least two sprints Saturday and enduros (90) on Sunday
We have lined up sponsors this year who will be providing food and libation Thrusday and Friday after the track goes cold.
We are ready, are you?
