Hoosier R6

I have been running the R6's for years and have found peak lap times with hot temps 44f and 48r on a 997 GT3. Well outside of hoosiers specs but even 40/44 could not compare with 44/48(50 is still good) on the clock although 100mph sweepers are slightly loose the tighter corners are much better. I originally tried low in the 34/38 area and the stick was good, just not the lap times.
Any new data on this? What are you guys using?

I don't think I would ever get them that high. At around 45 they become pretty undrivable on my GT3. What are your pyrometer readings at those pressures?

maybe that is tempurature in "C". ![hiha](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/roflmao.gif)
yes, 44psi hot is way too much pressure. a new hoosier might feel good at this pressuer, but put a temp gauge across the tire and see what things look like. Then, see how much better the car feels starting out at 30psi cold.

39 hot..
On my 996, I can absolutely feel the grease when they go higher than that. 44 pounds seems high, but just goes to show that there is room for different taste and feel.
I'll start the morning at 28-29 and drive with care for the sidewalls first lap or two. I usually have to bleed a couple of pounds off from that first run, but I don't want to start them any lower than that.

As VR stated already, tire gauges all do not always read the same.
As an interesting test, next time you are at the track find 4-5 of your friends and compare gauges on the same tire to see how the gauges compare. When you see the results think about how that goes into effect when you ask someone over the internet what tire pressure they run.
