Default Electric Power Steering Pump Conversion Question

Doing a conversion on a 996TT. For those that have done it in did you use the pressure line pieces from Motorsports, or some metric adaptors with AN fittings and high pressure power steering line? These parts are over $400 for this pressure line alone at Motorsports, plus they do not have any of the fittings in stock..

When I've installed the electric power steering pumps into earlier cars, I simply converted to AN fittings and lines. Simple and inexpensive.

Thanks Geoffrey. That is what I was leaning towards. Lines are short, and $400 seemed stupid for this. Almost half the pump cost.

Yes it is a last minute change so went with Motorsports pump. Time is short so probably easiest to install.

OK more of a pain. There are no fittings for the steering rack (the slip fit ones) to do an AN conversion to the pump. So unless you go with the full Motorsports setup, you will have to make your own fittings.

The fittings are not that hard to make for a talented fabricator. Lines are standard high pressure hose. It's not that hard to do.

Shoudn't be any need for custom fittings. Just take fittings off ps rack to determine thread size and put steel ones with seal ring and AN on other side.

As for making hose and fittings for hose, I'd recommend going to these guys. they'll sell ya simple hose that you can cut and make your own lines with steel AN fittings that screw into the line (much easier than making braided stainless lines).
