Loud exhaust at Lime Rock

Might be time to consider electric cars for LRP..... They should meet the 89db limit. My 968 minus cat and with Borla exhaust was consistently above 90db's with a turn down.
It's such a shame because the track is so much fun and absolutely beautiful.
I like Mike's proposal.

C'mon Joe, your not a DE guy anyway are you? It seems like we will be getting unmuffled Race days (PCA anyway) from now on so it's not a big deal.
Just make a quick bolt-on setup that muffles the hell out of it when doing DE's if you need to.

Ran LRP today with a 2004 996 GT3, a 2007 997 GT3 and a 2010 GT3 RS. All stock. No black flags for the three. In addition, I did not see anyone black flagged in the SCDA instructor run group all day. SCDA has an 86db limit, below the PCA club limits.
I think if you have a cat and a muffler you are in good shape. I would not describe a 997 GT3 or RS as a slouch, or down on power in stock condition. I had a good time and the day allayed my previous fears of LRP being a waste of time.
All this is particularly true when you consider I could be louder at a PCA event.

Just to update the thread....I finally made it out to Lime Rock today with my car (which now has a 3" exhaust with resonator, cat, and muffler), and I got black flagged pretty much right away. I managed to get about 1.5 run sessions in with a turndown before I got pulled from the track for the day. I guess I'll have to look at maybe getting a more restrictive muffler or a smaller exhaust if I want to run my car again at Lime Rock

I think my car also has a pretty distinctive exhaust note, so I think I may have stood out a bit

Mike, that was too bad you never really got to drive your car on track. However, after driving behind you for half a lap I wished I had a set of ear plugs – your car was extra loud, even with the new exhaust piece that mechanic was hammering on. I could feel a black flag in the air.
Muffle it up and come back to the track. It's a great place for a 924s to play.

In the meantime, NJMP and Watkins Glen don't have any noise restrictions, so I'll probably just focus on those tracks

I know...I think the problem was that I knew, qualitatively, how loud my car was, but I didn't know how loud 88 dB really is, so I had to take a guess as to whether or not I'd make it. Lesson learned
