Congrats to CJ Wilson on not only a World Series appearance but also for the formation of CJ Wilson Racing who will compete in the SCCA Pro Playboy MX-5 Cup series as well as the ST class in GrandAm Conti Challenge!

Jason Saini noted that he was moving over to CJ's effort from the MER team. If you've ever seen Jason drive... WOW! He can make the MX-5 Cup really move. Congrats CJ and Jason both!

Being lucky enough to drive with CJ & see his competitive approach to racing, I predict this team will be built to win, not just compete. Can't wait to see it happen.

"money money money money
MONEY"
hahaha
no but seriously- with Mazda we have the opportunity to participate in the ladder program to develop drivers for upmarket movement within our team as well as being viewed (in my experience) as more of a partner to a manufacturer instead of just a customer. Porsche makes great cup cars but as was mentioned we're starting with mx5 cup (very cheap for people to arrive and drive, more possible customers) and grand-am ST (same) instead of going with 997s in GS or GT3 cup cars (25k a weekend at least for customers). Once you start getting into the Rolex series class, the prices get a bit skewed because the RX8 and GT3 cup both become really expensive to purchase, although the RX8 seems to be a bit more reliable in terms of engine and drivetrain for a bit more money. Starting in the lower levels and working up will help our team learn a lot of necessary lessons and also to prove to the racing community what we're serious about.
as DP35 said- we're gearing to win. The experience that my partners have is with Mazda, and all my success so far has been in the MX5 platform so we feel that we'll be on the cutting edge of Mazda tech.
In the process our focus is on developing drivers, as well as marketing and raising money for children's hospitals and health initiatives through my charity.
Being a MLB player gives me and therefore our team and edge in terms of marketing, and rather than being a team that tries to hose it's drivers around every corner (know a lot of those!) we're going to provide first class (not low budget) support, equipment, teamwork.
thanks for all the support and to all of you guys that have encouraged me at the track over the years or raced with me and have become friends!
