My canned response when people ask me about Mosport is, "everyone should be THAT scared at least once in their life." I LOVE the place. Somebody just started laying some asphalt on the sides of hills up there and came up with this place. No CAD drawings, no safety studies on particular corner speeds, just here it is now go out there and be somebody! Turn 1 is a fourth-fifth gear, down hill, off-camber, narrow exit corner with about zero room for error. Turn 2....well, you have to drive it to appreciate it. Turn 4 is a tie your ***** tight and hope your car sticks corner. Turn 8 is 5th gear and SLIPPERY.

Here's a video in my 996 Cup from '09.

I'll be there again this year for the PCA race if I don't do the Patron race that's scheduled for there.

I can't stop laughing at all the positive and very real responses to driving Mosport,my home track since 1970.

Dave I suggest that you consider coming for the PCA Club race at the end of July. The track has a test day on the Thursday to get you used to the track and then run the three day event. There has been an advanced DE, as in pass anywhere except the apex, although I'm not sure of this years plans. Or race the Boxster.

Mosport is a 10-1/2 hour drive for me, and a toss up with the Glen as to my favorite. When I can combine the two into one trip, it's great. The combination advanced DE/club race (July 29-31 this year) is my favorite event anywhere. They tell me I can go into turn 4 without touching my brakes, but I've never been able to make myself do it (yet).

Not to ask a ****ty question (and slightly off topic)...How the F did it take you 12 hours from Chicago??? What speed? I drove Chicago (60611)-Montreal for 4 years and it was 14 hours...

I'm starting to get the impression that I should go to Mosport this year.

Mosport and Road Atlanta are two of the most Ballsy / Scary tracks on planet earth. Any well respected TrackTard needs to have both in their bucket list.
GO!!!!

Dave,

We'll be there at the end of July with PCA. There is an Advanced DE. Come meet us! Turn 2, 4 and 8 are simply amazing!

That would be great BUT I think the way my vacay is slated I can only make the May 2-3 event with COM or go with UCR May 14-15.

Dave,

Mosport is my home track... the videos don't do it justice. Once you get in the pocket, turn 2 is glorious. Avoiding the brake (usually by amputating your left foot) and just lifting a bit to set the nose over 4 takes gigantic ***** and fresh rubber. Hint: turn 8 has oodles of grip on the inside .

Drop me a PM if you're coming to the UCR day or PCA race in July.
