Steering wheel quick release??
Can I get some recommendations of quick release steering wheel adapters?
I need something that is
positive-no slop
extends the wheel ~2" closer to me
can still use horn
I like the Rothport a lot but it appears that a horn is going to be an issue, I suppose I can wire and external button

Bill,
I just went through this except I don't need the horn. The Rothsport unit is the best. Some that have used both say the Rothsport is better than the Porsche unit.
Get a Momo Mod 80 steering wheel to go with it. It has two horn buttons.

Ive got this one and it has zero slop and works great. Also ensures the wheel always goes on stright.

The Teqnik, Snap-off, Paragon one is the one I have in my car now and it's solid, but requires two hands to release and you need to pull the pins out when installing. The upside is that it's very low profile, you may want a dished wheel or spacers.
I've also used NRG: lots of parts, works well, self centering and one handed release ring, but heavy.
Momo: looks like the Rothsport, but developed a little play quickly, it's sitting on a shelf.
Rothsport: lightweight, one handed release, medium mounting depth, solid connection and I have one on order.
I'd go Rothsport, although it's pricey.

+1 for the T/C release. It has absolutely no slop. FWIW the Paragon unit looks identical.

I have the TC unit with their add-on spacer (appears to be the one linked to Paragon as well) and like it: no slop.
I did mount a horn button on the console. Didn't bother trying to mount one on the wheel.
If you need more wheel move-backedness, TC sells a dished wheel as well.

The one on the Paragon site is the Snap Off/TC quick release. Nice unit, but I prefer one I can remove with one hand, just in case.
The Rothsport one is super nice and a sure bet and it will bring the wheel at least 2" closer to you which you mentioned you were looking for. I need to see about carrying these. Not sure how you could make the horn work though.
I have this one here. http://www.ogracing.com/catalog/2-Ca...-QUICK-RELEASE
No play after 4 years of use. It has a thicker spline at 12 o'clock so you can't put the wheel on crooked. That said, I do think the Rothsport one is nicer.

Thanks guys, like a said I love the Rothsport but the horn issue needs to be dealt w/
I've used Snap-off and they are ok, hadn't seen the Paragon version w/ the horn feature, I guess that and a dished wheel would give me ~2"
Any one have a place w/ a good prices for the Momo dished 996 Cup wheel?

I have the SmartRacing quick release, very tight, no slop, but thinking about Rothsport. I have bought a couple of the hub adaptors from Rothsport to get the depth. No horn or turn signal trip.

Rothsport, it really is that much better.
Then get a steering wheel with PTT buttons wired for the horn. Or even easier, just get a PTT (Push to talk) button (used for in car radios) and put it on dash , shift ****, they even make them where you can velcro to the steering wheel. They come with coil cords so you can still remove wheel and move it around inside the car.
There is an easy fix.
