Looks to me like when your right hand came off the wheel that you may have changed the steering slightly. if you look at the left headlight hump, where the grass intersects it is different starting at around 0:13 in the slo mo vide, which is just before the spin really starts. Would be easier to tell if you had the yellow line in the wheel. Anyway, heavy braking + slight steering angle + bump = spin.

BUMP! Thanks for posting Rainer. And thanks for being a gentleman about it. Seat time at Sebring probably would have made a difference there.

Do you have an adjustable brake bias in the cockpit? If so maybe to much forward brake bias, you can see the rear get light on the bump in the brake zone. Just wondering??

After watching Rainer's video, Streak's initial finding was right, it was clearly the car's fault

All kidding aside, the brake zone there was on the bumpy side at track left. When over there, I got into the ABS in the Boxster a couple times. Found that closer to the middle was much better.

Did anyone ever find the tow hook, or is it inside Rainer's car somewhere?

Sorry I don't know to much about the stock class cars. I do know many of these "stock" cars are far from it, so I thought maybe it was allowed.

Larry, think a rear wheel locked up? Maybe over the bumps? I think someone before said right rear lock up - that would cause the car to pivot around to the right? Like if you dropped a boat anchor back there? Do I have that physics right?

I'd love to see data and see what your brake pressure (deceleration Gs) were. I wonder if a big "let-off-the-brake" would have given you enough weight transfer to save it?

The left rear locked up, and the loss of grip caused the car to pivot to the right. Ran a Carrera for 15 years; know all about it. On a non-abs car you have to get off the brakes if a rear wheel locks. Once it starts rolling again you can figure out what you are going to do. Otherwise you are just asking for a snap-spin. A good fix for that is an LSD with a xx/80 lock up to keep the rears together during deceleration.

When I had a sticky rear caliper my car used to do the same thing. I just learned to drive around it as I figured it was something dumb I was doing... that was until Mike I. (who I was co-driving an Endure at the Glen with) took my car out to practice. He came close to looping it 3 times in a couple laps, came and and after a couple WTF'S! Dan sorted it out and it was a different car.

Larry, in real time, could you have got off the brakes fast enough to stop this spin?

To me, it seems unless one's butt dyno was very tuned it would be tough to have stopped this from occurring as the time from recognition to R turning was s.h.o.r.t ..

Another way of asking this is how long do you have on sensing lock up to reduce braking pressure? As the reaction time would be reduced by any lack of traction resulting from the the track surface (ie bumps), would this not have been primarily caused by braking in the wrong spot (area of the track) ??

Honest question, and -OP- definitely Monday Morning QB-ing here.. Trying to learn.
